> The seventh round of US-sponsored negotiations between Israel and Lebanon carries symbolic weight, but the process is increasingly marked by stagnation rather than diplomatic momentum. Joseph Bahout says the main barriers now extend beyond technical disputes over implementing the June framework agreement. Military realities, domestic political constraints, reduced American engagement and broader regional tensions are converging against progress. He argues that the talks remain tied to the wider strategic environment, including developments in the Iran-US war and Israeli domestic politics. The situation on the ground, he says, is far removed from the agreement’s intended spirit.
