> Democrat and community college professor Randy Villegas won California’s 22nd congressional district, defeating six-term Republican incumbent David Valadao. The district was redrawn under Proposition 50. Villegas rejected corporate campaign donations and emphasized working-class power; Valadao had cast a decisive vote for a bill that cut the federal health insurance program.
