> Democrat Sherrod Brown defeated Republican incumbent Jon Husted to return to the US Senate. The special election will determine who serves the final two years of JD Vance’s term, and Brown’s win brings Democrats closer to regaining control of the chamber. His campaign focused on working-class living costs and criticized Trump’s Iran war, tariffs and data-centre construction.
