> Polls suggest Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed could become the first Muslim US senator if he wins in Michigan. The doctor has never held elected office and is campaigning on taxing billionaires and opposing US funding for foreign militaries, including Israel. He has faced opponents’ accusations about his donors and alleged ties, and denies any connection to the Muslim Brotherhood.
