> Gianni Infantino is fighting to retain the FIFA presidency in a difficult re-election contest. Sweden’s and Wales’s national football federations have withdrawn their backing, while England’s Football Association is reportedly preparing to do the same. UEFA and CONCACAF have issued similar rebukes. Fans and clubs have protested Infantino’s now-abandoned proposal to sell private investors shares in World Cup profits, adding to the pressure surrounding his campaign.
