> Several people fell into a river when an important bridge collapsed on June 3 in Hombo, a village in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The bridge is among the area’s failing critical infrastructure. The territory is also home to one of the region’s most lucrative mines. The collapse has renewed debate over mining revenues and the condition of infrastructure in communities near major resource deposits.
