> Since the full-scale invasion began, senior Russian generals have faced attacks not only at the front but also in the rear. At least three were killed in bombings in Moscow and the Moscow region, while another was shot and survived. The latest apparent target was Alexander Chayko, appointed head of Russia’s Aerospace Forces in May 2026. Telegram channels identified him as the possible target of an August 1 explosion at Moscow’s Balzi Rossi restaurant. Authorities made almost no public statements, apart from Mayor Sergey Sobyanin calling the blast a terrorist attack.
