> Tens of thousands demonstrated in Germany’s largest cities, calling for better education and lower living costs. The protests were mostly peaceful during the day, but violence broke out in several cities in the evening, with police using water cannon against people throwing Molotov cocktails. Organisers said about 120,000 joined, below their expected 180,000.
