# FBI accuses North Korea of hacking Binance crypto exchange

> The FBI said North Korea was responsible for an attack on Binance around October 29 that stole virtual assets worth more than $6 billion. It said the assets would likely be converted mainly into Ethereum and laundered through DeFi and instant-swap services. Binance said it will use half of its Secure Asset Fund for Users to compensate losses; it had previously said 90% of the stolen amount was reimbursed.
