> France is preparing for a third consecutive weekend of protests, with 70,000 police officers deployed to prevent a repeat of recent riots and looting. About 150 demonstrations are scheduled nationwide. Youth protests are also planned in more than 30 German cities; organisers expect over 160,000 participants, calling for more spending on education, climate protection and housing and opposing proposed compulsory military service.
