> Nuclear power is frequently presented as a way to address global warming, although it carries its own risks. Unlike coal and gas plants, it can generate energy without comparable greenhouse gas emissions. Yet hotter temperatures and drought across Europe are disrupting nuclear facilities and forcing shutdowns. Hungary is closing a reactor because water levels have fallen too low to cool it. The reactor is intended to supply energy for half of the country.
