# Ebola deaths in DR Congo exceed 5,000, health ministry says

> The Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 10,351 confirmed Ebola cases and 5,026 deaths since the outbreak began in May, a fatality rate of 48.6%, the health ministry said. The outbreak also began in Uganda, where it has ended; cases were later reported in neighboring Kenya.
