# Chinese and Swiss presidents witness signing of cooperation documents

> Chinese President Xi Jinping and Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin witnessed the signing of an upgraded free trade agreement protocol and cooperation documents on research, employment and media. The protocol commits both sides to further opening trade in goods, services and investment and updating trade rules. Bilateral trade totaled $49.04 billion in 2025; upgrade talks concluded in August 2026 after five rounds.
