> Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said an agreement with Oman by itself would not be enough to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that the waterway was not closed because Tehran and Muscat had disagreements. Baghaei attributed the closure instead to what he described as US and Israeli aggression against Iran. His comments indicate that an Iran-Oman arrangement alone cannot resolve the conditions Tehran says led to the closure.
