> A preliminary Spanish investigation estimates that a Renfe high-speed train was traveling at 160 to 200 km/h when it hit a stationary Iryo train. Investigators documented a failure in the line’s train protection system and a possible chain of failures, but said it is too early to establish the cause. The crash killed 69 people, and 50 injured people remain hospitalized.
