> Seventeen undertrial prisoners escaped from a jail in Theni district, Tamil Nadu, after overpowering guards. Police recaptured all of them in a 36-hour search, including eight found through drone surveillance of a nearby forest. Nine prison staff were suspended over alleged negligence, and police cited overcrowding and inadequate staffing.
