# China's gross ocean product rises 4.9% in first nine months

> China’s gross ocean product reached 8.5 trillion yuan (about $1.27 trillion) in the first nine months of 2026, up 4.9% year on year, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Natural Resources. Shipbuilding and offshore engineering equipment grew strongly, alongside increases in offshore oil, marine products and coastal port traffic.
