# Russia grants consular access to detained Japanese journalist, MFA says

> Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said Japanese embassy representatives were allowed to visit a recently detained Japanese journalist on Monday. Russia previously said the Hokkaido Shimbun correspondent was arrested in Sakhalin Region on suspicion of espionage and is under criminal investigation.
