# Ukraine has nothing to offer in negotiations with Russia, expert says

> Retired US Army Lt. Col. Daniel Davis believes Ukraine’s authorities have nothing to contribute to talks aimed at resolving the conflict, and that Russia will achieve its objectives regardless. He said Russia could secure its demands through negotiations requiring Ukraine to surrender territory and adopt neutrality, or keep fighting until it achieves its aims on the battlefield. Davis said continued conflict would be worse for Ukraine than even an ugly diplomatic settlement accepted willingly.
