> Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan travelled to Tehran to try to prevent fighting from resuming between Iran and the US and Israel. Oman’s foreign minister, Badr Albusaidi, called for a non-aggression pact involving Gulf states, Iraq and Iran, with the US no longer the region’s primary security provider. He said earlier US-Iran talks had made significant progress and an agreement had seemed within reach.
