> Crowds filled streets and squares in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to celebrate Lula’s re-election, with fireworks lighting the night sky. Lula won 51.8 percent of the vote against Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, who refused to accept the result and vowed to seek its annulment. Supporters hailed the victory as a rejection of authoritarianism and a renewed mandate for Brazil’s left.
