> Hundreds of thousands marched across France against rising living costs, with clashes in several cities. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said police arrested nearly 1,000 people on Saturday; authorities deployed about 70,000 security personnel. At least two people were seriously injured, while rights advocates and protesters condemned what they viewed as an assault on freedoms and the right to demonstrate.
