> Some demonstrations across France turned violent on Saturday. In Paris, protests that had been largely peaceful during the day descended into unrest after dark, with protesters throwing objects and fireworks at police. About 70,000 officers were deployed across France for a second weekend, using tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds. The Interior Ministry estimated 400,000 demonstrators and nearly 1,000 arrests.
