> France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said nearly 1,000 people were arrested Saturday as nationwide protests resumed. Paris police made 65 arrests after more than 3,000 checks, while estimates of protest turnout differed. Police used tear gas in several cities, deployed a water cannon in Nice and clashed with youths in Marseille and Lyon. Demonstrators voiced grievances over schools, austerity, wages, pensions and the cost of living.
