> French Gendarmerie armored vehicles appeared on Paris streets ahead of scheduled mass demonstrations. Vehicles and large numbers of police and gendarmes were stationed near the Elysée Palace and National Assembly, while access to nearby streets was blocked. A march on the city’s outskirts was authorized, and up to 500,000 people are expected to protest across France on October 24.
