> With his coalition under pressure, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is set to speak as the CSU concludes its two-day conference in Munich. Delegates have mixed expectations, amid concerns about reforms and how to respond to the rise of the AfD. Separately, a fire largely destroyed Bavaria’s Eagle’s Nest retreat; police arrested a suspect and are investigating the incident as a crime.
