> Powerful Typhoon Champi brought flight cancellations across East Asia and prompted school and office closures in Taiwan. One person died after being swept away by waves, 171 were injured and 1,000 evacuated. Forecasters said the storm could bring up to 90cm of rain, and Taiwan’s weather agency did not rule out landfall.
