> A court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced 77-year-old Crimean political prisoner Volodymyr Ananiev to 18 years in prison over an alleged plan to assassinate Sergey Aksyonov, the Russian-installed head of occupied Crimea. Investigators say Ananiev helped track Aksyonov’s car and prepare an explosive device. His wife called the case fabricated, and the defense plans to appeal. The Crimean Tatar Resource Center says Ananiev has several health problems and walks with a cane.
