> Russian attacks continue in Sloviansk, eastern Ukraine, where thousands of residents refuse to leave or cannot find a way out. Poverty, family ties and pets make evacuation difficult. Recent Russian aerial attacks hit a residential area and a building housing an emergency assistance center and the Red Cross, injuring people. About 20,000 of the city’s 100,000 residents remain, most of them elderly people unable to leave.
