# Heating season formally kicks off in Europe

> Europe’s net withdrawals from underground gas storage turned positive for the first time this fall, marking the official start of the region’s heating season, according to TASS calculations based on Gas Infrastructure Europe data. The region has injected only 75% of its target volumes for winter. On October 20, storage was 74.58% full, the lowest level for that date since records began in 2011. It held about 81.7 billion cubic meters, 9.7 billion less than a year earlier and the lowest amount since 2013.
