> Italy’s government approved a package of security measures after youth-led protests turned chaotic over the weekend. They include deploying 500 troops to Milan through year-end and creating an offence of violent participation in public demonstrations, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 20,000 euros. Parents may be held financially liable for damage caused by minors; 14- to 18-year-olds deemed dangerous can face administrative detention, and people using online tools to organise violent demonstrations could receive sentences of up to 12 years.
