# China strongly condemns Japan's moves over Yasukuni Shrine

> Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Monday that China firmly opposes and strongly condemns Japan’s actions concerning Yasukuni Shrine, and has lodged serious representations and strong protests with Japan. She was responding to offerings and visits by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and other Japanese officials and politicians. Mao called the shrine a symbol of Japanese militarism’s war of aggression and urged Japan to acknowledge history and stop what she described as retrogressive moves.
