> Barber Ricky Jefferies says he intervened after independent MP Helen Haines was allegedly hit twice by a car in Wangaratta. He pulled the driver from the vehicle and restrained him while others helped Haines, who remains in a critical but stable condition. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised Jefferies, who said he did not want to be regarded as a hero.
