# Ebola death toll in DR Congo exceeds 4,500, health ministry says

> The Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 9,455 confirmed Ebola cases and 4,561 deaths since the outbreak began in May, a fatality rate of 48.2%, the health ministry said. Ituri remains the epicenter. The epidemic has reached 66 health zones in eight provinces, and 269 healthcare workers have contracted Ebola.
