# Russian forces take about 100 sq km in Sumy and Kharkov regions in a week, expert says

> Military expert Andrey Marochko said Russia’s Battlegroup North took control of about 100 square kilometers in the Sumy and Kharkov regions over the past week, its largest territorial gains. He also said Russian forces liberated 12 settlements: eight in Kharkov, three in the Donetsk People’s Republic and one in Zaporozhye.
