> Trump said high immigration had led to France’s destruction and called for the country to close its borders as soon as possible. Demonstrations against rising fuel prices and declining purchasing power took place across France on October 17. Organizers estimated 800,000 participants, while the Interior Ministry counted 550,000; some protests turned into riots and clashes with police. The interior minister said 1,800 people were detained and vowed to prosecute those involved in riots and looting.
