> Brazil recorded 3,335 square kilometers of Amazon deforestation between August 2025 and July 2026, nearly 42% below the previous year and the lowest since records began in 1988. Environment Minister Joao Paulo Capobianco called the decline extraordinary, while President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the goal is to end illegal deforestation by 2030.
