> During a phone call with Vladimir Putin, Pope Leo XIV voiced “deep concern” over the dire humanitarian situation in Oleshky, in Ukraine’s Kherson region, and urged a ceasefire to enable aid deliveries and safe, voluntary civilian evacuations. The Kremlin said Putin blamed what it called the “Kyiv regime” for the situation and that both sides agreed to cooperate on keeping residents safe and delivering supplies. Drone attacks have left residents without food, electricity, or adequate medical care, and they cannot safely leave the city.
