> Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced last week that the US plans to livestream the firing-squad execution of Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter. The proposal drew backlash from congressional Republicans, religious leaders and international observers. Death penalty experts say no US government execution has ever been broadcast or livestreamed; the military last used a firing squad in 1945.
