> A Moscow court placed political analyst Alexander Kynev in pretrial detention over alleged large-scale drug production and trafficking, an accusation carrying a possible 10–20-year sentence. The article says Kynev was arrested shortly after criticizing Russia’s Duma elections and reportedly beaten in custody, amid broader suppression of institutions and critics that once conveyed realities to the Kremlin.
